Hardwood Flooring Guide

When homeowners think hardwood, they think of beauty, durability, and value. Many homeowners choose to install hardwood floors in their homes because it can add value to their home that they can enjoy. At Creative Interiors Carpet One Floor & Home you can be assured that we bring you only the best quality hardwood and brands.

With hardwood flooring, you can have a floor that suits your style and makes your home look even more beautiful than before. If you’re all about staying on trend with in-home styles, then gray finished hardwood might be a great choice for your home. We also have traditional hardwoods with yellow undertones, and rustic wooden planks that show off the natural look of weather-worn wood.

Expert Advice - Hardwood Styles

Join our very own Jim Aaron, VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, for some information on all the different looks and style available in hardwood floors.

Solid vs. Engineered Hardwood

When choosing a new hardwood floor, you have two different options including solid and engineered planks. To put it simply, solid hardwood is one solid piece of wood, where engineered is multiple layers of wood with the grains running in opposite directions and a premium piece of wood as the top layer. Both types offer their own distinct characteristics that make them unique. Solid and engineered planks feature unmatched looks that cannot be replicated by any other flooring. An advantage of engineered planks is they can handle more traffic and are more stable.

Hardwood and Humidity

Since South Carolina is known to have a humid climate for most of the year, you should figure out before you purchase hardwood if your home is well-suited for it. Hardwood is made from real wood, so it can expand and contract with changes in humidity. We can give you more advice about humidity when you visit our showroom and speak with one of our hardwood experts.

Where can Hardwood be Installed?

Hardwood is recommended for home settings where there isn't significant foot traffic and moisture. Popular spots for hardwood are bedrooms and living rooms. We do not recommend installing hardwood in places around your home such as bathrooms or kitchens. You should choose the space where you want to install hardwood before you choose a floor. For example, solid hardwood needs to be installed on above level rooms of your home. Engineered hardwood, however, can be installed on all levels of your home.
